Welcome to the Bluebirds |
The Bluebirds will accommodate babies from six weeks through twelve months. Our expertise in this field allows us to prepare those nearing the age of one to graduate to The Parakeets Nest just next door. For all intents and purposes we have classified The Bluebirds into the following three categories.
The Stretchers & Snugglers (6 weeks to 3 months)
These are the newest additions to The Baldwin Family. They seem to let you know exactly what they need and when they need it. Outside of that these babies just want to be loved, held and cared for. These children are generally fed a bottle every three hours. Breast milk is welcome, as long as there is enough to satisfy your babies hunger. It is our policy to change these babies every two hours, as well as any other time it may become necessary. These tiny ones are apt to sleep a lot and we allow them to doze off on an as needed basis.
The Sitters, Crawlers & Climbers (4 to 9 months)
These babies roll-over, sit-up and are just starting to become mobile! They like a lot of stimulation, animation and hands-on activities. Although they still love to be held and played with their preference is to explore. These babies typically have a bottle every 3 to 4 hours and most have been introduced to baby foods and cereals. Diapering is still done every two hours and as needed. They still nap twice a day in the a.m. and p.m. just enough to recharge for all of their busy adventures.
The Wanderers & Walkers (9 to14 months)
These little achievers are well on their way to becoming the busiest babies of the bunch. From standing up with furniture to taking their first steps, these ones are action-packed and ready to travel. They generally have a snack in the morning, a noon time meal and another snack in the afternoon. Self-feeding has been introduced and they’re becoming masters. Bottles vary depending on the individual need and parental desires but most are transitioning to sippy cups. Diapering is still done every two hours and as needed. They’ve begun to need less sleep and as they near 12 months most will take one longer nap in the afternoon, generating enough energy to keep them busy through dinner. These babies will keep caregivers and parents very busy-so be prepared!
Baldwin offers music, reading, sign language, games and more for all children in our infant program. By far our chief goal is to offer consistency, love, guidance and direction to give these babies an excellent foundation from which to grow, thrive and mature into the wonderful little people they were meant to be!
