Welcome to Parakeets

Our main goal in The Parakeet Nest is to take your child from the arms of infancy through their Toddler Year and into their initial social relationships. One of the first learning experiences for a One-Year-Old is the separation from the Mother and Father. This is developmentally normal and often far more stressful for the parent than the child. We are here to help!
The environment and atmosphere in The Parakeet Program is one of continual growth through sensory learning experiences. Our Program operates with what can best be described as “flexible structure”. We give the children ample opportunities to work on basic social skills such as cooperating in a social environment, listening to simple instructions and demonstrating acceptable behavior. We also work on the basic art of eating with a spoon, drinking from a cup and using proper manners, like please and thank you!
Our indoor/outdoor learning times involve activities for fine and gross motor development, hand-eye coordination, individual play within a group setting and development of postural strength and stamina. Parakeets are also exposed to music, art, language activities and lots of hugs and attention!
The organized morning begins with quiet group playtime and then goes through our Musical Circle Time. After Circle, the children have a snack together and are than divided into small groups for periods of listening and learning, art, outside play, story time and room play! After the morning activities, children are cleaned-up for lunch. All Parakeets bring their own lunch and begin eating at 11:30. Lunch is followed up by a much needed rest / naptime. Afternoon activities involve outdoor time, including climbing, sandbox play and scooter riding. Late afternoon activities involve music and movement, story time and quiet time designed to meet individual needs. There are plenty of snacks served and diaper changing throughout the day!
The number of The Parakeet House is (858) 270-5297. Please call us directly with any questions or concerns. Also, please notify us if there is an illness, absence or vacation also if you will be running late! For the safety of your child, State Law Requires that you sign your child in and out each day with your full and legible signature.
Be sure to check your Parakeets cubbie daily, for artwork, notes, newsletters and other information. Make sure we are provided with diapers, extra clothes, a bib, a light jacket in cooler weather, and if your child is a napper, a crib sheet and a blanket. All of your child’s belongings should be clearly marked with a permanent marker.
Our main goal is to instill a positive self-image in your child by providing a fun, loving and stimulating learning environment. We believe in growth through exposure and have every confidence that your child will excel here at Our Academy!
