Kindergarten begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Children that arrive before this time may be taken to The Big Nest!  The Kindergarten Teacher collects the Parrots at 8:20 a.m. where they have ten minutes of outside playtime.

The Parrot Day begins with a Morning Circle combined with calendar and weather activities.  The morning routine is composed of mathematics, journaling, language arts, music, and recess.  Our afternoons include social studies, science, the creative arts and of course physical education!  Although the Kindergarten works as a group, the class size lends itself to independent study with personal and individualized attention for each child.

Parrots bring a lunch from home with an additional snack that they can enjoy at 9:30 a.m.  They typically have lunch at 11:45 a.m.  The afternoon consists of a short rest period (10-15 minutes) and a variety of group participation activities. Parrots’ end their school day with a Summary Circle at 2:20 p.m.

The Kindergartners take part in various community events and activities.  There is a nominal monthly fee paid to the Teacher at the beginning of each month!  These fees help defray the cost of admissions, parking and other fees associated with these educationally based outings!

The Kindergarten Day is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  If children are not enrolled in after-school care, they must be picked up by 3:00 p.m. Before and after-school childcare is available in The Big Nest.  If you are unable to reach them, please feel free to contact the Big Nest at (858) 483-5628.  Please call if you have any questions, comments or concerns.  We also would appreciate a phone call if you are going to be late, out sick or miss a day for other reasons.

The Goal of The Baldwin Academy Kindergarten is to provide our students with a strong educational foundation while instilling a solid sense of self-esteem and confidence.  Due to the small number of children in the group, each child is able to develop their strengths and flourish individually within the security of their intimate setting!  This program is specifically geared toward preparing children for their entry into senior kindergarten or First Grade and the vast academic, social and emotional growth that will take place therein. The Parrot Program may be used as a True Kindergarten or as a Transitional Class.

The Kindergarten Program requires a ten-month commitment.

The Parrots direct phone number is (858) 775-6750.  Please call us directly with any questions or concerns.  Also please notify us if there is an illness, absence or vacation or if you will be running late.  For the safety of your child, State Law requires that you sign your child in and out each day with your full and legible signature.
